Which lens is best for you?

Did you know that modern intraocular lenses (IOLs) can not only treat cataracts but also visual disorders such as short-sightedness and long-sightedness (myopia, hyperopia) as well as astigmatism so effectively that many patients no longer need glasses?

Which lens is right for you depends on your individual visual disorder, your needs and your budget. To help you with your decision, let us explain which IOLs are possible and what these lenses cost.

At the end of the day, the recommendation and decision for a particular lens always rests with your treating doctor.

There are three fundamental types of intraocular lenses:

Standard IOLs with no additional functions

These monofocal lenses guarantee very good standard treatment for cataracts to restore good distance vision. You will probably no longer need glasses for distance vision but for intermediate and near vision.

Comfort IOLs with depth of field function

These intermediary lenses – also known as EDOF lenses – improve both distance and intermediary vision. You will probably only need reading glasses.

Premium IOLs with individual additional functions

These multifocal and/or toric lenses optimally correct visual disorders such as presbyopia and/or astigmatism. With these lenses, you will no longer depend on glasses.

General information on IOLs

The way to the right lens always leads through your ophthalmologist, with whom you will then make a decision together after a thorough examination and consultation.
